Pumpkin Patch 2012 - Day 1

And once more unto the haunted garden breach, dear friends!

Although I only harvested two tiny pumpkins last year, it felt successful. They were grown from medium sized "Jack O Lantern" labeled seeds. I've decided to improve my odds for larger ones and try using seeds for immense sized pumpkins this time. We'll see what happens. The package says 110 days to harvest and being a little less than 200 days until Halloween, I think my timings good.

Whether I actually get giant pumpkins (or any at all) doesn't matter to me, it's the fun of trying every year I enjoy most.

    1. Thanks for the tip, I tried doing on 2 of them, will be curious to see the difference.

And thanks for your generous offer, but I don't want to bother your brother. Maybe I will take you up on it one day when I have real garden space to be a more dedicated pumpkin grower.

  4. Wu-hoo! May the Great Pumpkin himself watch over & cheer them on. Looking forward to updates. I think we'll try pumpkis this year too. Hopefully they'll enjoy sun on both days of our growing season.

  6. it gets too hot down here in florida dave...
I have also read somewhere that when you get the bloom off the vine... snip all but one bloom and that makes the plant focus on that one fruit and they tend to get alot larger...
Dont know if thats true or not but its worth a shot...
