Boogeyman

A week or so back, Halloween artist Pumpkinrot, titled a blog post The Boogeyman and simply asked So what's he look like? It inspired some doodling in the sketchbook.

As a little kid, my Boogeyman was a tiny, evil creature wearing a long coat and top hat hiding somewhere in my bedroom just waiting for dark.

Any resemblance he had to the Child Catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was not coincidental. That character really freaked me out then and still does today.

  1. The Child Catcher scared the bejesus out of me when I was a kid! I planned to do a prop this year that was based on him because he was so creepy.

I'd love to see your doodle come to life too. Fun sketches!

  2. Great Boogeyman, looks like he might be a distant cousin of Montgomery C Burns.

I'm glad you posted that clip, because I haven't seen the film since I was a kid and I was drawing a blank on the Child Catcher character...and oh, Benny Hill was in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang?!

  3. Rich, a child catcher prop would be awesome! You should make one! I've always to make his cage wagon and park out front my house one year.

You're so right about Monty Burns. Did not pick up on that while doodling him.

Yep Benny Hill! I always knew him as the kind toy maker in the movie so when I got older and saw his classic bawdy comedy show it was a shock!
