And once more unto the haunted garden breach, dear friends!
Although I only harvested two tiny pumpkins last year, it felt successful. They were grown from medium sized "Jack O Lantern" labeled seeds. I've decided to improve my odds for larger ones and try using seeds for immense sized pumpkins this time. We'll see what happens. The package says 110 days to harvest and being a little less than 200 days until Halloween, I think my timings good.
Whether I actually get giant pumpkins (or any at all) doesn't matter to me, it's the fun of trying every year I enjoy most.
We grew pumpkins for the first time last year and only got two as well. They are really fun to grow. Best of luck!

Deletedid you nick the outside of the pumkin seeds with a pair of nail clippers?? helps to get the sprout out & with higher success rate. my bro grow giants & enters them into contests...if you want advice, he's a great guy & wiling to help...just let me know.

ReplyDeleteI have also read somewhere that when you get the bloom off the vine... snip all but one bloom and that makes the plant focus on that one fruit and they tend to get alot larger...
Dont know if thats true or not but its worth a shot...
